The 2026 Nishan Forum on World Civilizations opened on the afternoon of September 28 in Qufu, Shandong. Speaking to reporter from the Shandong International Communication Center, Jonah Dunch, a Yenching Scholar at Peking University, described himself as a fan of Confucius, saying that since he began studying Confucianism, he had become more open to different traditional sources of knowledge, to community, to things, and to the continuity of family.
